Relationship to the EKD [Protestant Church in Germany]
Through its member churches, which also belong to the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) [Evangelical Church in Germany], the VELKD is linked closely with the EKD and views itself as a part of this fellowship. The operational areas of the EKD and VELKD are different and are set forth in the respective constitutions. Against the background of the different mandates there is efficient cooperation, which is agreed upon from case to case.
